PRF stands for ‘Platelet Rich Fibrin’ and is a natural was to help improve a number of conditions, including your skin's texture, thickness and radiance. This is the newest modification to the use of PRP or platelet rich plasma. PRF is different in that it uses no added anticoagulants, which PRP requires to prevent the plasma from clotting. PRF is therefore the most natural process available, as there are no added compounds, just your own fibrin.

Platelet Rich Fibrin uses the healing properties of your own platelets (taken from a small sample of your blood), to stimulate cellular rejuvenation and improve the skin’s texture and elasticity.

Depending on what area you are addressing, the treatment takes about an hour and is performed by one of our expert nurses who have been highly trained in this technique. A course of treatments involves 2-4 appointments, spaced 1 month apart, and when needed results can be maintained with a single repeat treatment every 6-12 months.

Fine lines and wrinkles

Textural improvement

Dull dry skin

Hair growth in male and female pattern hair loss

Rejuvenation of age related changes on the hands and crepey neck

Slow healing wounds and ulcers

Post traumatic and acne scars

First, you’ll have a consultation with one of our nurses to discuss your skin needs and which PRF treatment would suit you best.

The next step is your treatment appointment, where our registered nurses take a small vial of blood from your arm, just as we would do for a normal blood test. Then we spin the vial in a centrifuge to separate your plasma from your red blood cells. The spinning process concentrates your platelets, which are the cell fragments that produce the growth factors that trigger healing. This blood fibrin fluid is then drawn off.

For rejuvenation this can be used as an alternative to collagen fillers, and is then gently injected into the areas of concern on the face and neck. For hair loss, the injections are placed at intervals over the involved areas of the scalp.

For more advanced results, PRF is combined with dermal needling (the vampire facial), which helps reduce pore size and scarring, making your skin look and feel smoother.

Within four to six weeks of treatment you can notice an overall improvement in skin hydration, texture and tone. New collagen and blood vessels begin to grow after three to six weeks, and skin repair occurs over the next three months. As cell growth is required to manufacture new tissue, it does take time to work, but the effects of PRF can sometimes be observed sooner depending on the particular treatment plan and on the individual. Because it is a natural process, results can vary, and occasionally changes at a cellular level do not translate to a visible change.
